The Rye Boys Golf team disposed of Harrison on Tuesday, May 13, winning the match 187-202 and locking up first place in league play. The 187-mark was the Garnets’ best finish all season, and came in a competitive rivalry match to clinch a league title in less-than-ideal conditions.

“Today, we put together our best round of the season to clinch the league title over Harrison,” Head Coach Pat Romano told MyRye.com after the win. “All five players shooting in the 30s in the rain is incredible. I am very proud of the boys coming up big in an important match!”

The difference between top and bottom was slim for the Garnets, as each started averaged just 37.4 strokes. The best score was Ryan Kevorkian with a 36, with the lowest being just three additional shots. Rye gave Harrison no chance on the rainy Tuesday.

Romano’s group is now a remarkable 12-1-1 with still some runway left in the year. Their next match is tomorrow, Wednesday 5/14, at the Summit Club against Byram Hills at 3:30pm.
