The Rye Baseball Team scored 12 runs before making three outs on Monday, May 19, going on to defeat Henry Hudson 15-1 in the first round of the Class A playoffs. Rye came into the matchup as heavy favorites and left no doubt, cruising to the mercy rule victory.

The top of Rye’s lineup did plenty of damage against an overmatched Saliors’ pitching staff. Nolan Hutson, Luke Ontaneda, Jamie Morris, and Charlie Rupp all went 2-3 with multiple runs batted in. Hutson tripled twice and Ontaneda tripled and homered in the first inning to drive in five runs before Hen Hud even had a second chance to hit.

Jack Sheridan cruised to his fifth win of the season on the mound with five strong frames and only one run against.

Rye (17-3) advances to the quarterfinals of the Class A playoffs, where they will host Pearl River on Wednesday, May 21, back at Disbrow Park.
