The medical examiner has determined the death of a 26 year old young man on Florence Avenue in Rye on Saturday was a suicide. Rye police issued the following statement Tuesday afternoon saying it would provide no further comment.
Rye PD statement:
“On May 31, 2025, at approximately 8:35 pm, officers from the City of Rye Police Department responded to a residence on Florence Ave in the City of Rye on a report of a gunshot.
Officers arrived on scene and found the victim, a 26-year-old male in critical condition suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Despite the best efforts of our first responders, the victim succumbed to his injuries while enroute to White Plains Hospital.
Based on the investigation and a postmortem examination the Westchester County Medical Examiner has certified the cause of death as suicide.
