David Moxhay lived in Rye at 3 Rosemere Street and graduated from Rye High School, class of 1964. During the Vietnam War he served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

After graduating from RHS in 1964 and completing his sophomore year two years later at Lafayette College in Pennsylvania, Moxhay took a leave of absence as a student in good standing and enlisted in the US Marine Corps. He trained at Parris Island, Camp Geiger, Camp Lejeune, and Camp Pendleton before shipping out for Vietnam in December 1966.
Moxhay served as an enlisted Marine in Chu Lai in the Republic of Vietnam for 17 months from December 1966 to May 1968, first as an 0311 Infantry Rifleman for four months and then as an 0221 Intelligence Assistant for 13 months. His unit was MAG-13. and his rank was Lance Corporal (E3). More on Moxhay.
