Athlete of the Month is a series where MyRye.com profiles the best athletes of each month throughout the academic year selected by Rye Athletics. Today, we look at senior Mary Sack of the Rye Girls Varsity Lacrosse Team, who earned Rye High School’s Athlete of the Month honors for May 2025.
“Mary has had an awesome month of May on the lacrosse field,” Head Coach Michelle Mason told MyRye.com. “Mary is a standout athlete and person, and we are so proud of her.”
Throughout the home stretch of the regular season and beginning of the sectional playoffs in May, Sack was a standout contributor in her team’s eight games. She compiled a remarkable 21 goals, 15 assists, 16 ground balls, 11 caused turnovers, and 27 draw controls, showing off her five-faceted skillset as an offensive midfielder. She reached 150 DCs and 100 goals in the month, indicators of her dedication and commitment to the girls lacrosse program as a four-year varsity letter winner.
Beyond the scoresheet, Sack was a leader in the cause to organize Rye’s Morgan’s Message Game on May 2 against Bronxville. Mason confirmed that Sack is a longstanding, unwavering supporter of mental health, especially Morgan’s Message.
Sack is the final Athlete of the Month in 2025, joining a long list of talented seniors – Kaden Zion (Boys Soccer, September), Caroline Doyle (Field Hockey, October), Bowyn Brown (Girls Soccer, November), Jake Kessner (Boys Basketball, December), Erin Ball (Winter Track, January), Drew Dolan (Hockey, February), Archer Fenton (Boys Rugby, March), and Tucker Hess (Boys Lacrosse, April).
Sack is off to Penn next fall to continue her academic and athletic career in lacrosse for the Quakers.
