Rye Varsity Baseball Head Coach Michael Bruno declined to name an individual MVP for the 2025 season, instead choosing his entire team.

“This year, the MVP award goes to the entire team,” Bruno told MyRye.com. “Every success we’ve had has been the result of collaboration, dedication, and mutual support. It’s impossible to single out just one person when everyone has played such a crucial role.”

The Garnets went 23-5 this past spring, reaching the state semifinals game for the first time in more than a decade. They won league, sectional, and regional championships along the way. Their success came from several different spots: the offense was deep, with speed (Nolan Hutson, Lucas London), power (Harry Ellis, Charlie Rupp), average (Luke Ontaneda, Jamie Morris), and on-base ability (Jackson Pineault, Michael Talbott, and Vinny Sculti). On the mound, the staff was led by Jack Sheridan, Peter Davies, and Clayton McCarthy, who combined for all 23 wins, and were especially important in the postseason.

The bench was crucial as well, as Rye regularly had louder dugouts than their opponents. All the factors played into a remarkable season, especially for a team with zero collegiate commits.
