Rye Girls Varsity Rugby Head Coach Geri Jones has named her MVP for the 2025 season: senior Molly Kennedy.

“Molly Kennedy is an integral member of the rugby program,” Jones told MyRye.com. “Her work ethic and experience helped to create a team ready to compete in a new Metropolitan Rugby League, where we finished 6-6.”

Rye stumbled towards the end of the year, but stayed strong in the new field of competition, thanks in large part to Kennedy. The senior captain scored more than half of her team’s tries throughout the spring and was the only player to convert a conversation kick. She finished the season with 26 scores (2.2 per game) and 18 extra point kicks, for a total of 166 points.

“She has meant so much to the program and will be missed next year,” Jones concluded.

Kennedy is taking her athletic, academic, and service talents to West Point next fall, where she will, among other important things, continue her rugby career.
