This is MyRye.com’s new weekly Rye Playland Ride Watch, showing what rides are open and closed in the park. This information is updated each week on Thursdays based on available, self-reported information from Playland (1).

In January 2025, private operator Standard Amusements said it wanted out of its 30 year contract to manage Playland. That left Westchester County scrambling to open the park for the season. In May, the County issued an emergency order to permit a no-bid process needed to accelerate the inspection and preparation of rides at Playland Park.

The County opened the park on May 24, but was careful to say many rides would be closed. Many rides they said would need to be repaired and then inspected before opening. As repair work continues, the County has been criticized for there being so many rides closed.

On July 19, these complaints prompted the County to report Playland has seen 65,000 visitors this season, as well as a comment from Communications Director Catherine Cioffi saying in part: “As has been widely reported, Playland Park was left in a significant state of disrepair, putting the 2025 season at risk… as we have communicated… not all rides are currently operational at this time.  We have been transparent to allow Playland enthusiasts to make an informed choice with free admission and listing the open rides.”

Playland admission is free, all day rides are $15 and parking is $10. For the remainder of the summer, Playland is open 12pm – 9pm on Thursdays and Sundays and 12pm – 10pm on Friday and Saturdays. Fireworks are Fridays at 9pm through August 29.
