Rye Playland Park and Beach will open for the 2025 season on Saturday, May 24 – here is what you need to know. The park is back under County management in the wake of its unscheduled and messy separation from Standard Amusements just a few months ago.

Parks and other county staff have been scrambling to get rides and concessions in working order. It’s a work in progress.

  • All Memorial Day weekend there will be free admission, rides and parking (all three days);
  • In the Kiddyland area, eight of the 21 rides are will open;
  • Among the “grown up” rides, five of the 20 major attractions are will be open;
  • The Dragon Coaster, ferris wheel and Derby Racer – among other rides – remain closed.
  • The Westchester Children’s Museum will also have programming along the boardwalk this weekend.

Major food concessions in the park are closed for the season, but food trucks and vendors will be in the park and the Tiki Bar will be offering app based food delivery to Playland Beach. After this weekend, the park will begin to charge $10 for parking. Entrance to the park will remain free. Once park officials have a few more rides open, they expect to begin charging for the rides.

“When we get to a critical mass of rides open, then we’ll have the fees that’ll be charged,” said Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins on Friday during a media walk through of the park. “But we haven’t decided what that’s going to be. What we have decided is that Playland is going to be open for everyone to walk through all the time.”

Park officials said they have hired more than 200 people to work in the park after reviewing 550 applicants. They have an additional job fair on Saturday, June 7 (10am – 2pm at the Westchester County Center) and expect to continue to hire people throughout the summer.

There will be no Friday evening fireworks (at least immediately) but officials are working on having fireworks, especially for the July 4th holiday.

  • Playland Park will be open Memorial Day Weekend, Saturday, May 24 through Monday, May 26, 11am to 6:30pm each day. Free.
  • Playland Beach will be open Saturday, May 24 through Monday, May 26 from 11am to 6:30pm. Beach admission fees apply. See 2025 Playland Beach and Pool Schedule & Fees.

  1. I’m happy they are opening though I haven’t been on rides for years, my grandchildren can experience the few rides that will be opened. Especially happy I can walk around Playland without having to pay, it was that way years ago, now everyone one can enjoy the area.

  2. Sucks that in younger years you would end your day with the Iconic Funnel cake and it is no longer available ????
