The Rye Field Hockey team handled business on Wednesday, September 15, as they annihilated Byram Hills 9-0. The Garnets entered the contest as heavy favorites, and scored a season-high nine goals to help them officially clinch a regular season league title for the third time since 2020.
“Thea Fairhurst stepped up and tried some new positions tonight,” Head Coach Valerie Perkins told MyRye.com. “She had a great shot from the top of the circle on a corner and found the back of the goal.”
Fairhurst was one of six goal scorers for the Garnets, who were led by Beau Whaling’s hat trick plus assist and Issy Mann’s two goals. Maggie Swanson and Jules Karmilowicz both recorded one goal and one helper, and Kaitlyn Coyne also found the back of the net. Rye outchanced Byram Hills 25-0.
The Garnets (12-2) have won two games in a row and nine of their last ten since the middle of September. They close out their three-game homestand on Saturday, October 18, as they host Arlington at 7:00pm. Replay the Byram Hills win here.
