The Rye Football team stayed undefeated on Saturday, October 4, as they crushed Yorktown 42-13 at Nugent Stadium. The Huskers only trailed 14-13 at one point, but two touchdowns before halftime and two more after, along with stout defense, allowed the Garnets to breathe easy and walk away with their fifth straight win to open 2025.

“Very pleased with the total team effort,” Head Coach Dino Garr told MyRye.com. “They responded to a gritty effort on the part of Yorktown. Our offense came through with needed pressure with two scores before the end of the half when the score was 14-13.”

Charlie Garnett stole the show on the ground, as the senior running back went for three scores of one, three, and eight yards. Carson Miller threw for two more – one to Sebastian Lewis in the first quarter (38 yards) and one to Nigel Strazzini in the second (26 yards).

“Charlie Garnett and the offensive line did yeoman’s work in scoring three rushing touchdowns,” Garr continued. “Carson Miller and the receiving core of Henry Shoemaker, Nigel Strazzini, and Sebastian Lewis helped balance the offense.”

The other touchdown for Rye came on an electrifying punt return by Jagger Fenton – a crushing blow to the Huskers’ hopes, and not a play they were able to recover from. That special teams magic had Rye up by 15 at halftime, and they would cruise from there via a second half shutout.

The Garnets (5-0) remain perfect through five weeks, and their offense has continued to hum at an elite level regardless of their opponent. Rye will look next to Eastchester in a bit of a short week – the team goes on the road on Friday, October 10, for a road matchup beginning at 7:00pm. Watch the home win over Yorktown here.
