The Rye Football team scored 35 unanswered points to topple Eastchester on Friday, October 10, defeating the Eagles 48-23. The Eagles, at home and celebrating senior night, actually led the Garnets 16-13 in the first half before Rye righted the ship en route to another offensive drubbing.
While the run game has been Rye’s forte all season, it was through the air where the Garnets found most of their success on Friday night. Senior quarterback Carson Miller threw six touchdowns for a new season high. In chronological order, he found Sebastian Lewis twice in a row, Henry Shoemaker, Charlie Garnett out of the backfield, Charlie Brady, and Shoemaker again. Four of his six touchdown tosses went for 20 or more yards.
“Carson has some great receivers in Henry and Sebby and they came through big for us,” Head Coach Dino Garr told MyRye.com after the victory. “Charlie Brady had a good performance as well, and always plays well on defense.”
Despite the early scare, the Garnets ended up winning in convincing fashion once again, and move to 6-0 on the season. The Garnets have just two games remaining – next Friday, October 17, home against Nyack, and then Harrison in ‘The Game’ the following Saturday, 10/25. Watch the Nyack game here if you cannot make it to Nugent Stadium for the 7:00pm start.
