The Rye Volleyball team earned their fourth sweep of the postseason on Tuesday, November 11, as they eased past Port Jervis 3-0. Rye has now lost only one set throughout the postseason slate after their 25-18, 25-11, 25-16 victory in the Regional semifinals.
Five different Garnets recorded 5 kills or more, highlighted by Phoebe Greto with 16 (5.33 per set). Valeria Medina, Katie Hillis, Audre Campbell, and Giorgia Brizio all helped the offense hum and allowed Amelie Modesto to have several options regardless of Rye’s personnel or rotation. The junior setter double-doubled with 31 assists and 11 digs – she has now led the Garnets in assists in all 23 of their matches so far.
Emma Lunstead (24 digs) and Margo Ehrenberg (7 digs) commanded the defense, as did Medina, who added 15 digs to go alongside her 7 kills. The senior outside hitter clinched the win with an ace, Rye’s sixth as a team.
The Garnets (19-4, 5-0 postseason) roll on to the Regional championship game (State quarterfinals), which take place on Saturday, November 15. The Garnets are three wins away from a potential state championship.
