The Rye Football team matches up with Brighton in the New York State championship game on Friday, December 5 at 6:00pm. The game, as per usual, is at “The Dome” in Syracuse, NY, and it represent the last hurdle in the Garnets’ season.

Miss our recent Rye Lifer interview with Rye football Coach Dino Garr? Read it!

Wondering how to watch the game? Check out some of your options.

For the game preview, we turn to the Steve “The OG” Feeney, the voice of Garnet football:

Hi Ho Hi Ho it’s off to the JMA Wireless Dome (FKA Carrier Dome) the Garnets go seeking an undefeated 2025 season and a NYPHSAA Class A Championship.

But alas the Brighton Bruins of Monroe County, a Rochester suburb, stands right smack in the middle of the Garnets mission. These Bruins aren’t from Queens, NY, Brighton, MA or Brighton, England (UK), nor are they the UCLA Bruins. The Section V champions tallied a full slate of regular season and playoff contests leading to a season-to-date record of 11 wins and 2 losses, the losses coming against Hilton and Webster Schroeder. The Bruins residual schedule was an eclectic mix including Webster Thomas, Go-Go Co-Op, Spencerport, McQuade Jesuit, Victor, Churchville-Chili, Irondoquet, Webster Schroeder (once in the regular season and a playoff rematch, quite like the Garnets and Somers Tuskers). Rounding out the Bruins end-of-season schedule we find the East World of Inquiry, McKinley, and Union Endicott.

Many years from now at their class and team reunions this 2025 championship team will ask family and friends:

“Where were you when the lights went out on the Brighton Bruins?”

Of course the universal response will be: “In the Dino Dome.”

The Garnets turn off Brighton’s lights by what has become a consistent, season-long victory margin.

Garnets rumble 42-17, and it’s a joyous ride home to Rye and a welcoming escort by Rye Fire and Rye PD.
