The 20th anniversary of MyRye.com was celebrated on the floor of the US House of Representatives by local “Rye Guy” and NY-16 Congressman George Latimer. The local news service published by long time Rye resident Jay Sears, with assistance from a staff of writers and contributors, is in its 20th year of service to the community. Nearly 12,000 news stories on the local people, organizations and events of Rye have been published on the pages of MyRye.com since its inception.
“I want to celebrate the 20th anniversary of MyRye.com under the editorship of Jay Sears, for its service as an online chronicler of the life and times of the Rye community,” said Latimer on the floor of the US House of Representatives.
When he served as the local State Assemblyman and then as State Senator, Latimer was a contributor to MyRye.com. He would regularly pen a “Cup of Joe” report after meeting with local residents over coffee. He would detail their concerns and what he and other local elected officials were doing to address the concerns.
