The Rye Boys Squash team saw their six-match winning streak come to an end on Thursday, January 22, as they fell to Hackley 5-2. The Garnets played shorthanded against their toughest foe of the year, which was not a recipe for success in the non-league contest.
“The boys put forth a valiant effort,” Head Coach Quan Huynh told MyRye.com after the defeat. “But without their number one player, Charlie Rodilosso, out due to an injury, the Garnets were unable to match up against the Hornets.”
Michael Talbott won his matchup to stay undefeated on the season, and Owen Karl also picked up a victory. All the Garnets had to slide up the depth chart without Rodilosso in the lineup. The loss is Rye’s first of the season, and fortunately for them, does not affect their Fairwest League perfection.
The Garnets (6-1) will look to bounce back in another difficult matchup on paper, as they face off against Bronxville on Saturday, January 24. The match begins at 2:00pm at LifeTime Fitness in Harrison.
