
The Rye – Blind Brook Swim and Dive team saw their brief two-meet winning streak come to a halt on Friday, January 16, as they fell to Byram Hills – Briarcliff – Pleasantville – Valhalla – West Lake 95-74. The Garnet Trojans suffered their largest margin of defeat to a wild team combination featuring swimmers and divers across five different school districts.
The best results for Katie Konopka’s group included victories by Wilson Redd in the 50M freestyle and Nick Stocks in the 100 free. Michael Hamlet and Darren Sinha showed signs of midseason improvement by finishing their events, the 100 back and 100 fly respectively, in personal best times. Hudson Marquis doubled down by swimming the 50 and 100 free both in best times as well, although he was unable to secure the Garnet Trojans any placements points.
Rye – Blind Brook drops to 3-4 on the season and 3-3 in the new merged team conference. Their final scheduled regular season meet is one the team has been looking forward to all season. The Garnet Trojans host New Rochelle – Bronxville at 4:30pm on Friday, January 23, in a matchup that has been circled since before the season began.
