The Rye – Blind Brook Swim and Dive team broke a brief two-meet losing skid on Friday, January 9, as they outpaced Mount Vernon-Tuckahoe 98-72. A remarkable eleven swimmers posted new personal best times for the Garnet Trojans across nearly every heat of every stroke.
“The team had a great meet with many swimmers swimming personal best times and season best times,” Head Coach Katie Konopka told MyRye.com.
List of swimmers who recorded new PRs on Friday, the team’s first meet in 21 days:
– Austin Frankel (200M freestyle and 100 free)
– Jackson Rindahl (1M diving and 100 backstroke)
– Vlad Moscaliuc (200 IM and 100 free)
– Nick Stocks (200 individual medley)
– Darren Sinha (50 free)
– Sami Jazbeh (50 free)
– Filip Glitterstam (100 free)
– Michael Hamlet (100 free)
– Luka Rozende (100 free)
– George Papaioannou (500 free)
– Henri Von Homeyer (100 breaststroke)
While PRs are exceptional achievements, they do not equate to team points for Rye – Blind Brook. Those were picked up by event winners such as Wilson Redd (50 free), Filip Glitterstam (100 free with his PR, plus first in the 100 breast), Stocks (500 free), Papaioannou (100 butterfly), and Rindahl (1M diving alongside his personal best). The Garnet Trojans’ 200 free relay, 200 medley relay, and 400 free relay all came in first place as well on the team side of things.
Other notable placements include Liam O’Byrne (season best time in the 200 free) and Owen Picker (2nd place in both the 200 free and the 100 back).
The complete effort brings Rye – Blind Brooks’ record up to 2-3 after five matchups. Their next dual meet is scheduled for Tuesday, January 13.
