The Snackery, the bakery at 64 Purchase Street in downtown Rye, is closing.
Owner Sara Leand announced the news on social media. She said in the wake of losing her parents last year, it is time to focus on family.
“It has truly been the honor of a lifetime to build my dream of a small, specialty bakery,” said Leand. “We have loved celebrating your milestones, sharing in your traditions, and being welcomed into your lives. Those moments—big and small—are what made this journey so meaningful… This past year has brought significant life challenges, and with loss and change comes a new perspective. When you lose your parents, and you are a parent yourself, you begin to see life through a different lens. Right now, my heart is telling me to devote my full energy to my family. Thank you for every order, every visit, every kind word, and every bit of love and support you’ve shown us over the years. I will forever carry your kindness and the memories we’ve made together.”
Leand’s business originally opened in Rye in October 2021. The Snackery was featured on the Today show on January 2025:
