The Rye Wrestling team competed in the Section 1 championship tournament from February 7-8, a two-day event featuring some of the best wrestlers from Westchester county. Two Garnets placed second in their respective weight classes to advance to the State championships from February 27-28 – senior co-captaisn Jack Anderson and Jason Gaylord.

Anderson, the Rye High School Athlete of the Month in January, reached the podium in the 215-pound weight division, going 6-1 in seven matches at Sectionals. Gaylord, the Bernie Miller Tournament Most Outstanding Wrestler, posted a 5-1 record to finish second place in the 165-pound class. Both wrestlers will next compete during the final weekend of February at States.

A third Garnet reached the podium on February 8, with 157-pound Tyler Walsh going 5-3 to claim fifth place. His performance earned him All-Section honors.

Anderson and Gaylord will cap off the 2026 season for Head Coach Brian Scher and his entire staff from February 27-28 in Albany at MVP Arena.
