June graduated from Port Chester High School and SUNY New Paltz. While teaching in Rye, New York, she met Al on a blind date arranged by a mutual friend, Nancy Steed. They quickly fell in love and were married on April 21, 1976.

She was also an active member of the Rye Teachers Association, serving in multiple roles including President, and represented teachers in numerous labor negotiations throughout her career.
June and Al shared a love of travel, good food, and friendship. They spent time both abroad and with their close-knit community at Shenorock Shore Club. After Al’s passing in March 2022, June moved to Red Bank, New Jersey, to be closer to her family.
In 2011, after nearly 50 years of searching, June was reunited with her mother’s family in County Roscommon, Ireland, a connection lost when her mother, Elizabeth Egan, passed away when June was just two years old. For decades, her Irish relatives—the Lennons—had searched for her, never giving up hope. In a particularly meaningful moment, June was able to reunite with her mother’s youngest sister, Sarah Agnes Lennon, and attend her 100th birthday—a memory she cherished for her remaining years. Over the years, June and her family returned to Ireland on many occasions, strengthening the bonds that had been separated.
