The Rye Boys Tennis team suffered their second loss in three matches on Thursday, April 16, falling 5-2 at home to Scarsdale. The Garnets played in several close matches on the day, but came up short to one of New York’s best in the Raiders.

“Although losing a close match is disappointing, the boys played with a lot of heart and stayed locked into their matches,” Head Coach Sue Dickson told MyRye.com. “The support from their team members is outstanding. They have great dedication and are committed to learning from each match, win or lose.”

The two Garnet points came from third doubles, with Philip Karajannis and Dylan Smailes winning in straight sets, and second doubles (Marcos Becker and Xavier Morell) winning 6-4, 3-6 (10-5). The top doubles team of Lou Kim-Reuter and Filip Glitterstam and the fourth doubles pairing both lose in super tiebreakers, sealing the match. All three Garnets who competed at singles lost in straight sets.

Rye will get another chance at the Raiders next Wednesday, April 22, in their next match. First serve is set for 4:30pm at Scarsdale High School.
