The Rye Girls Lacrosse team suffered their second consecutive defeat on Tuesday, April 7, falling to Wilton 7-6. The Garnets led 5-0 after one quarter of play, and 6-2 with just over one quarter remaining, but could not hold onto the lead amidst a furious Warriors comeback.

“It was a tough loss for the Garnets after grabbing an early lead,” Head Coach Michelle Mason told MyRye.com after the game.

Blake Sasse and Beau Whaling both scored twice for Rye to co-lead the squad in both goals and points. Annie Toulouse scored and added an assist for a pair of points. Paloma Pepper (goal), Mia Howson (assist), and Mary Ebeling (assist) also reached the scoresheet in the loss.

Defensively, the Garnets caused seven turnovers, including two from Peyton Leahy and two from Coco Peters. Peters also paced her team with three ground balls, tied with Lucy Wood.

The Garnets (2-2) will have to try to shake this shocking loss off before their next game, which is scheduled for Saturday, April 11. Rye travels to Darien to play the perenially-elite Blue Wave at 11:00am. Replay the game vs Wilton here.
