The Rye Girls Lacrosse team checked off most boxes on Tuesday, April 14, winning 16-7 on the road at Mamaroneck. The Garnets outscored the Tigers 11-3 after the halftime break to erase some frustrations from a low-scoring first half and get back in the win column.
“We were dominant on ground balls with 14, our draw team got flowing, and our ‘D’ unit came up big not only on 50-50 balls, but also caused turnovers,” Head Coach Michelle Mason told MyRye.com after the victory. “We faced some adversity in the first half and then were extremely responsive during halftime.”
The Garnets held the Tigers to one first-quarter goal, but scuffled in the second. They held just a 5-4 lead after 24 minutes, but quickly expanded that to 12-5 in the third via a 7-1 frame and continued to fire away on the Mamaroneck net in the fourth.
Rye (3-3) hosts Horace Greeley in their next contest on Saturday, April 18, at 3:00pm at Nugent Stadium. Watch it here. Replay the road win over the Tigers here.
