The Rye Girls Lacrosse team fell during a preseason non-league game in Florida on Wednesday, April 1, losing 11-8 to American Heritage Del Ray. The Garnets are one of three teams currently in Florida, and could not come up with a win under the sun on April Fool’s Day.

Beau Whaling paced Rye in goals and draw controls with three apiece. Annie Toulouse and Paloma Pepper both scored two goal apiece, while Blake Sasse tied Whaling with 3 DCs and tied Toulouse with two points.

Defensively, Clare Nemsick and Peyton Leahy both stood tall with two ground balls and two caused turnovers each. Freshman goaltender Dylan Ehrlich made a season-high nine saves in the defeat.

Rye (2-1) plays their next official game back at home at Nugent Stadium on Tuesday, April 7. The Garnets host Wilton High School in another non-league contest, which begins at 5:00pm. Watch it here.
