The Rye Boys Lacrosse team concluded their regular season with a 17-2 win over Tappan Zee on Monday, May 18, their 11th win of the season. The Garnets kickstarted a double header with the girls team with a no-doubter. The two Rye lax teams combined to win their games 38-10.

“This game was our last regular season home game, so we really wanted to send our seniors out in style,” Head Coach Jeremy Guski told MyRye.com. “The seniors led the fight and 16 out of our 17 goals were assisted. Our defense was in lockdown mode.”

Rye only ceded two goals, a season low, both of which came in the fourth quarter after the game was already a no-contest. Rye led 13-0 at halftime. The final shot count read 26-7.

Four different Garnets recorded at least five points, highlighted by Charlie Brady’s five goals and Henry Shoemaker’s six assists. Will Niejadlik added five assists, as Rye moved the ball more effectively than perhaps any game this spring, evident by their sixteen team helpers.

The Garnets finish out the regular season with an 11-5 record. They will be one of the few teams with a real chance to win the Sectional tournament, which begins this week, even if they do not clinch the #1 seed.

“We are playing our best lacrosse rolling into playoffs,” Guski said.
