The Rye Girls Lacrosse team celebrated Senior Day in style on Saturday, May 2, topping New Canaan 16-3. The Garnets secured the dominant win for their sixth victory in a row and their first against a Connecticut opponent in 2026.
“Rye celebrated its six amazing seniors – Mia Howson, Clare Nemsick, Paige Tepedino, Annie Toulouse, Beau Whaling, and Alex Wood – with a statement victory over CT powerhouse New Canaan,” Michelle Mason proudly told MyRye.com.
Howson took advantage of the extra motivation and scored a season-high five goals plus one assist. Tepedino scored four in her second game back from injury, and Toulouse netted a hat trick. Whaling also scored, meaning 13 of the 16 Garnet goals came off the sticks of seniors. Nemsick, a defender, caused two turnovers, scooped three ground balls, and controlled four draws.
Rose Denvir, Mary Ebeling, and Blake Sasse were the other three goal scorers, and Dylan Ehrlich made seven saves in goal to earn the win.
Rye (8-3) will look to earn their seventh straight win and complete a perfect homestand in their next game on Tuesday, May 5. The Garnets host Nyack at 5:00pm. Watch it here. Replay the Senior Day win here.
