The Rye City School District Board of Education election race, along with the vote on the $117 million 2026-2027 school budget (a 3.08% increase from the 2025-26 budget), is today, Tuesday, May 19, 2026. Voting will take place in the Rye Middle School gymnasium between 6:00am – 9:00pm.

The district has highlighted budget items including:

  • A social worker for the hgigh school and middle school
  • Two elementary STEM teachers
  • A new roof for the Rye High School gym
  • Eight RHS Academic Teams
  • High school and middle school WiFi upgrades
  • Security camera upgrades at the elementary schools

The two candidates will be Shaun Kloepfer (incumbent) and Emily Borell (new candidate), running unopposed for the two open spots. The candidates will represent two of the elected seven-person Board of Education.
