The funeral service for Hamish Fenton, age 14 of Rye, took place Sunday afternoon, June 7th, 2026. After a power outage related to weather events, the funeral service was quickly relocated to Christ Church Rye with overflow seating in their parish hall as well as the Rye High School Performing Arts Center.
“Hamish was the most grateful human being I’ve ever known, and so I know he’d want me to take the time to say thank you to the community of Rye, you showed up for us in every possible way, shaved heads, meals, so many meals, financial support in the hardest times, welcoming us at every event, and being here today,” said his mother Cassie Fenton at the service. “Hamish may have only lived here for five years, but Rye became his home, and it was here that he found another family and a community.”
