Rye Girls Varsity Lacrosse head coach Michelle Mason has named her MVP for the 2026 season: senior Beau Whaling.

“Beau is not only an incredible player, but also a wonderful teammate and leader,” Mason told MyRye.com. “She was involved in every offensive play and showed up everyday to work her hardest at practice.”

Whaling put up ridiculous numbers in her final varsity season, scoring 68 goals in 21 games – more than a hat trick per game on average. She was far from a one-dimensional player, however, quarterbacking the draw team to help Rye start with possession more often than not. In total, she compiled 61 of Rye’s 301 team draw controls.

Whaling also served as a captain for the relatively young Garnets. She was one of only six seniors on the roster that guided Rye to league, section, and regional championships. Mason praised her leadership just as much as her 68 goals after the season came to a close in the New York State semifinals.

“Beau is a special human and special player,” the head coach said. “We are excited for all that’s ahead for her at Duke and will miss her deeply.”

Whaling, Rye’s Athlete of the Month from April, is set to continue her academic and athletic career with the Blue Devils next fall.
