On July 4, 2026, crowds gathered along the Playland Boardwalk and in Rye Town Park for the annual Playland firework show. Anticipation was heavy in the air, but so was an incoming storm. Groups of onlookers took shelter as the skies above the beach were lit not by the promised festive fireworks, but lightning.
Due to the weather, the fourth of July firework show was cancelled; however, it has now been rescheduled to take place Friday, July 10th, 2026.
“The date may have changed, but the excitement hasn’t,” said Westchester County Parks Acting Commissioner Peter Tartaglia. “Playland is proud to host this special celebration, giving families the opportunity to enjoy a classic summer evening and a spectacular fireworks display honoring America’s 250th anniversary.”
The firework display will begin at 9pm on July 10th. After this weekend, fireworks will continue every Friday night through September 4th.
“Playland’s annual Fourth of July Fireworks are a tradition not to be missed, especially for our nation’s 250th celebration,” said Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins. “Although we had to postpone last week’s event, we’re excited to welcome everyone to the park to enjoy the celebration. It’s a wonderful opportunity for residents and visitors alike to enjoy an evening of family fun in one of Westchester’s most iconic destinations.”
