The Rye-Blind Brook-Rye Neck girls swim and dive team opened up the 2026 season with a 102-84 win on Friday, September 18, as the team defeated Byram Hills-Briarcliff-Pleasantville-Westlake-Valhalla. RBBRN have waited longer than any other Rye fall sports team to kick off their season, but made the wait worth it with a big win in their opening meet.
“The Rye-Blind Brook-Rye Neck girls swimming and diving team had a great first meet of the season,” head coach Katie Konopka told MyRye.com. “Miya Akahira, Kalani Lee, Elena Lopez, Kenzie Plauche, Lucy Smith, and Nora Smyth all swam in their first varsity swim meet.”
Rye’s swimmers found great success on Fridat evening, including Lee, who won her first varsity events (100M butterfly and 100 backstroke). Charlotte Tait and Elena McGlynn placed first and second in the 500 freestyle, with Tait also coming in second in the 200 free and McGlynn first in the 100 back. Right behind McGlynn in the backstroke was veteran Quinn Boyle, who also secured second place in the 50 free. Clare McGlynn also picked up a victory, doing so in the 200 free.
Rye Neck diver Lucie Megret won the diving competition and qualified for the sectional championship meet in a nice season debut. Zoe Lopez placed 4th in diving and also qualified for the sectional championships.
Rye-Blind Brook-Rye Neck (1-0) hosts Mahopac-Putnam Valley-Carmel in their next meet on Friday, September 25, at 4:30pm.
