The Rye Field Hockey team secured a fast start to the 2026 season on Thursday, September 3, as they defeated Clarkstown North/South 3-0. The Garnets struck first in the second quarter and outshot Clarkstown 17-5 for the opening night win.

Liv Prata was the one to break the ice off a nice assist from Cate Puzzouli. “She helped us gain momentum for the rest of the second quarter,” head coach Valerie Perkins said of her star goal-scoring senior.

Kaitlyn Coyne and Elle Ridley both added goals to help clinch the comfortable win. Coyne assisted on Ridley’s tally, which was the first goal of her varsity career. In goal, Tessa Zicari came up with five saves and a few competitive clearances to pick up the shutout.

Rye (1-0) travels to Mamaroneck after the extended Labor Day weekend for their first road contest of the season on Tuesday, September 8. The Garnets and Tigers square off at 5:00pm. Watch it here. Watch the win over Clarkstown here.
