Local officials are warning a Nor’easter is expected to impact our area beginning Friday, September 25, 2026 and continuing through Sunday, September 27. Rye experienced severe flooding only two weeks ago.
The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory from 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 25th, through 6:00 a.m. Sunday, September 27th, with north winds of 20–25 mph and gusts up to 55 mph possible.
Local high tides in the 11 am and 11 pm hours over the weekend could combine with high winds to result in coastal flooding.

Residents are encouraged to prepare ahead of the storm:
- Secure or bring inside outdoor furniture, decorations, garbage cans, and other loose items that could be blown away by strong winds.
- Be prepared for the possibility of downed trees, tree limbs, and power outages.
- Stay away from downed power lines and always treat them as if they are live. Never attempt to move or drive over a downed wire.
