The Rye-Blind Brook-Rye Neck Girls Swim and Dive team lost in their sixth meet of the season on Friday, October 16, as they fell to Ardsley-Dobbs Ferry 101-68. The defeat knocks RBBRN down to 2-4 on the season.
“The team was at two different meets today,” head coach Katie Konopka informed MyRye.com. “Lucie Megret and Zoe Lopez competed at an 11 dive invitational at White Plains High School. Megret qualified for the NYSPHSAA state championship meet tonight in the 1M diving. The rest of the athletes the competed against a very talented Ardsley-Dobbs Ferry team.”
Megret’s most recent success follows a season-long trend of her being a standout performer for Konopka. Already qualified for sections, the junior has now already guaranteed her spot in states at the very end of this season.
The swimmers found less success against likely the best opponent RBBRN will face this season. Elena McGlynn represented the only individual first place finish, winning the 100M backstroke. The 200 freestyle relay team of Quinn Boyle, Kenzie Plauche, Charlotte Tait, and Clare McGlynn also placed first.
Charlotte Tait placed second in both the 200 Free and 500 Free. Lucy Smith and Nora Smyth both swam personal best times in their events, the 500 free and 100 back respectively.
Rye-Blind Brook-Rye Neck (2-4) gets Yorktown-Somers in their next meet on Friday, October 23, as their season begins to wind down. The meet begins at 4:30pm at Hommocks Pool.
