The Rye Field Hockey team fell to Yorktown on Thursday, October 8, as they could not find the back of the net in a 5-0 defeat. The Garnets have now dropped two shutouts in a row after a stretch of five consecutive big wins.
“Cate Puzzuoli did well on defense, helping us make stops against some of Yorktown’s key players,” head coach Valerie Montano told MyRye.com after the game. “Tessa Zicari had a lot of great saves tonight and I am proud of her effort.”
In her second game back after missing one with illness, Zicari stood tall with 19 saves. The Yorktown offense peppered her with shots throughout the evening, as Rye struggled to gain possession or offensive rhythm.
Rye (6-5) will look to bounce back in a road contest against Carmel on Saturday, October 10. The Garnets travel to CHS for their 12th game of the 2026 campaign, which begins at 2:00pm.
