The Rye Girls Soccer team continued their offensive burst in a 6-2 victory on Wednesday, October 7, as they cruised oast Harrison for their sixth consecutive win. The Garnets have scored 32 goals during their hot streak, good for 5.33 per game.
“Rye turned in a strong performance against the visiting Huskies this afternoon, earning an impressive 6–2 victory,” head coach Rich Savage told MyRye.com. “Harkin Brown drew a penalty kick after a great move in the box, and Hannah Jachman converted to open the scoring.”
Freshman Vivian Miller also delivered in the first half. She was one of two freshman to score in the contest, with Cameron Dawson also adding one of her own for Rye’s sixth and final goal. Between the rookies, the Garnets scored three times in eight minutes to blow the game open at the start of the second half. Although Harrison scored twice late, the result of the game was hardly ever in doubt.
Rye (10-0-2) hosts fellow unbeaten Pleasantville in their next game on Saturday, October 10. The high-profile matchup is scheduled for primetime under the lights of Nugent Stadium at 7:00pm. “[This] promises to be an exciting matchup,” Savage told MyRye.com with enthusiasm.
