The Rye Girls Soccer team celebrated senior night with a big win on Thursday, October 15, as they downed Eastchester 5-0 at Nugent Stadium. The Garnets scored five goals for the fifth time in the last six matches and while simultaneously completing the season sweep over the Eagles by a combined score of 9-0. Rye officially locked up first place in their league with the victory.

“Rye hosted the Eastchester Eagles on Senior Night, celebrating its seniors with an impressive 5–0 victory in a match that featured contributions from throughout the lineup,” head coach Rich Savage told MyRye.com.

Senior Jill DeSanto opened the scoring in the first half, using the outside of her right foot to deliver a well-placed strike. Senior Fiona Marino assisted Harkin Brown for Rye’s second goal, followed by senior Shira Rand setting up Hannah Jachman for a beautiful shot from 30 yards out to make it 3-0 Garnets. Charlotte Keenan added Rye’s fourth goal off an assist from Jachman, and Rose Denvir rounded out the scoring with the fifth goal.

Defensively, Eleanor Pandl, Ella Fleckton, and Julia Carballo anchored a strong back line to preserve the shutout for senior Blake Sasse. The senior night victory marks the third consecutive shutout for the Garnets and their tenth overall on the season on a night where they won their league and took another step towards clinching the #1 overall seed in the Section 1 tournament.

Rye (13-0-2) will enjoy the weekend before their final regular season game of 2026 on Monday, October 19. The Garnets travel to Byram Hills for a 5:00pm start.
