The #1 Rye Girls Soccer team reached the sectional semifinals in convincing fashion on Tuesday, October 27, as they drubbed #8 Sleepy Hollow 7-0. The Garnets wasted no time proving why they are the number one team in Class A to extend their winning streak to 12 and unbeaten streak to 42 dating back to 2025.

Charlotte Keenan scored the first two goals of the contest, both early on, to set the tone. The Garnets added two more in the final two minutes of the first half courtesy of Hannah Jachman and Jill DeSanto. Playmaker Vivien Miller earned two assists in the half.

Harkin Brown showed off her speed and finishing ability to add two tallies of her own in the second, and Paula Etinger came off the bench to close the scoring with a seventh goal just seconds after an accurate throw-in from Emma Stark. Like Miller, Shira Rand finished the night with two two assists, and DeSanto added an apple to her first half goal as well.

Goalkeepers Blake Sasse and Mae Haesslein shared the shutout for the second game in a row, with each keeper recording two saves this time around. The Garnets have yet to allow a goal in the postseason since 2024.

#1 Rye (16-0-2, 2-0 postseason) has one final home game to look forward to in the sectional semifinals on Thursday, October 29. The Garnets will host the winner of #4 Byram Hills and #5 Bronxville with a spot in the championship game on the line.
