Purchase Street between Purdy Avenue and Cedar Street was closed Sunday evening after a bridge strike. “An individual struck the bridge causing parts of the box on his truck to lodge up into the train tracks,” Rye PD Lieutenant Mike Anfuso told MyRye.com. “We had MTA Police there to assist us and they contacted an engineer to examine the bridge.”
A bridge strike can also slow or stop train traffic. Purchase Street was closed from 5:25 pm to 8:00 pm from Purdy Ave to Cedar Street for cleanup.
