OG’s Rye Garnet Football: Saturday, September 20 Rye @ Sleepy Hollow 1:30 PM

Part of the 2014 RYE GARNETS SEASON PREVIEW

Saturday, September 20 Rye @ Sleepy Hollow 1:30 PM

As with Harrison, the Garnets reversed a single ’13 loss to the SLEEPY HOLLOW HEADLESS HORSEMEN. The eerie squad from Ichabod Crain’s and Rip Van Winkle’s Hudson Valley ‘hood host the Garnets in what has become a traditional horse race between old SWIAC foes, but dominated by Rye at 25-12-1 (.676). This 38th paranormal fable has its roots in the ‘40s and ‘50s with contests between Rye and two predecessor Tarrytown high schools. These tilts are always scary, never sleepy, as the Red and White, with their sinister “Hollow Hit” chant coupled with those horseshoe helmets, present an aura and mystique beyond that of Washington Irving’s legendary stories. With only one success over the last two decades, these stampeding spirits always target the Garnets. HAUNT THE HEADLESS HORSEMEN ! ! ! HAUNT THE HEADLESS HORSEMEN ! ! !
