In Memory: Elizabeth Ann Worsham, Age 71

Elizabeth Ann WorshamElizabeth Ann Denton Worsham, lovingly known as Betty, Mom, Mimi, and Bauwie, passed away on September 19, 2024 at the age of 71. She was born in Hicksville, NY, but raised in Rye, NY, along with her two brothers and two sisters, by Paul and Kathleen Denton. Later she would marry Craig Worsham and have two children, Christiane and James.

Elizabeth eventually left New York to follow her best afternoon tanning hours and became a resident of Oldsmar, FL. Here, she truly fostered a spirit of perpetual curiosity and a heart open to all. Elizabeth was always the first to laugh, at good things or bad, and found something to celebrate in everything. She always knew where she stood, and she insisted her feet be in the sand, the soil, or a colorful, fabulous pair of shoes.

She is survived by her children and their spouses—Christiane Stamp and Joe Stamp, James Worsham and Mark Massa—as well as her grandson, Patrick Stamp, whom she adored above all. Her family meant the world to her, and her special relationship with her grandson was one of the brightest lights in her life.

Elizabeth had a way with plants and making things grow. She appreciated that gardening added beauty to the world, and applied that ethos to everything. Strangers didn’t exist to her – they were just people she hadn’t met or shared stories with. Animals brought her great joy and comfort, and she loved her years fostering dogs. Even her library grew endlessly, reflecting the family addiction to reading that she found herself surrounded by.

Elizabeth will be remembered for her kindness and inclusivity (unless she didn’t like you, and knowing her, she probably would have told you). She was the life of the party that made sure you knew you were heard, seen, and very loved. You never knew what she would say or do next, or what she’d be wearing. Her legacy of compassion, curiosity, and connection will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be dearly missed.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Graham Funeral Home of Rye, NY. A celebration of Elizabeth’s life will be held at Rye Town Beach Pavillion on October 12, 2024 at 12pm.
