James Ward is heading to Rye City Council.

After all the votes were in, the completed unofficial tally by the Westchester County Board of Elections shows Democrat Ward with 4,500 or 59% of the vote versus 3,122 votes or 41% for the Republican candidate Rick McCabe.

“I am very excited and humbled for the opportunity to be on the city council,” Ward told MyRye.com Wednesday morning.

McCabe dropped out of the race citing health concerns but his name remained on the ballot.
