Over the past week, football coaches across Rye’s conference in New York State (Class A) voted on several tiers of award winners, from seniors Jake Kessner and Patrick McGuire winning Class A Defensive Player of the Year and Offensive Lineman of the Year respectively, all the way down to nine Garnets who earned All-League recognition. Four earned All-Conference regards, while Kessner, McGuire, and two others earned the coveted All-Section honors. Junior Carson Miller also claimed the Class A quarterback of the year for his stellar 2024 season.
“First and foremost, these are outstanding young men, seniors in particular, who have been a part of the program at least two years, if not three, and longer,” Head Coach Dino Garr told MyRye.com in an interview. “These are just outstanding awards. We’ve got a number of those awards because the team was successful, but more importantly, because these guys were dedicated and committed to to making them successful.”
Peter Olkhovets, Charlie Ross, Owen Saya, Connor Brady, Nigel Strazzini, Ty Ramachandran, Sebastian Lewis, Luke Denvir, and Carsten Steinman were the nine Garnets to claim All-League honors, as voted on by Class A coaches. Andrew Wilmarth, Henry Shoemaker, Tucker Hess, and Archer Fenton were the four to earn All-Conference recognition, while an impressive foursome of Patrick McGuire, Carson Miller, Chris Iuliano, and Jake Kessner earned All-Section honors. Including McGuire’s, Miller’s and Kessner’s individual awards, 17 different Garnets from the 2024 team earned some level of wider recognition, spanning 20 awards overall.
“It just goes to show… these young men have worked so hard to get these awards,” Garr continued. “And they’ve set a great model for our future players, to come through as Garnets.”
