The city council’s agenda for its meeting at 6:30pm on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 is out. The Council will convene at 5:30pm and adjourn into executive session to discuss personnel matters, Playland litigation, and potential property acquisition. The meeting will also be aired on Cablevision Channel 75 and Verizon Channel 39.  We’ll also see you on the Internet (live and archive).

Formal office hours of the Mayor and other officials have been suspended.

  • Open Mic. Members of the public may be heard on matters for Council consideration that do not appear on the agenda.
  • Brian’s Bran. Report of the City Manager.
  • Human. And Right. Human Rights Commission – Youth Award to Kaylie Nakamura and Ashley Hernandez.
  • Paving Things Over. Presentation of 2025 street resurfacing plan.
  • I Can’t Hear You. Public hearing to adopt a local law to repeal Chapter 133 “Noise” Section 133-7 “Lawn maintenance equipment regulations” in its entirety and amend Chapter 122
  • Blow or Maybe Just Leave Those Leaves / Positively Electric. “Leaf Blower Regulations” Section 122-4 “Use of gas leaf blowers” of the Code of the City of Rye to amend the timeframe for the use of gas-powered leaf blowers.
  • Preparing the Post Kopy Era. Public hearing to adopt a local law to amend Article 6 “City Council” Section 6-2(C) “Powers and Duties”, amend Article 8 “City Manager” Sections C8-2(B) and (C)(1) “Powers and Duties of City Manager”, rescind Article 12 “Department of Public Safety” and create a new Article 12 “Department of Police” and new Article 13 “Department of Fire” of the Rye City Charter, and to reestablish the position of Police Commissioner and to establish the position of “Fire Chief.”
  • Biting. Discussion of leash law and Rye Town Park. 
  • Fresh Debate Taking Root on Ethics? Resolution authorizing the Corporation Council to retain Steven G. Leventhal for legal assistance in reviewing the City Code of Ethics for an amount not to exceed $10,000.
