Two days, two stolen plates.
Rye Police arrested a 51 year old woman on Friday, September 26, 2025 for driving a vehicle with stolen license plates. Police made a similar arrest Thursday, using license plate readers (LPRs) to trigger both actions. Utilizing LPRs Friday, police officers were able to find and identify a 2004 Honda Accord operating with the stolen license plate on Milton Road. A traffic stop was initiated and the vehicle was stopped on the Playland Parkway. The license plate was reported stolen to the NYPD Property Crimes Unit on August 30, 2025. License plate readers (LPRs) are used throughout the region to monitor traffic. Forty six local law enforcement departments share camera and LPR data via the Real Time Crime Unit (RTC) to flag various issues including stolen plates and vehicles.
The Rye Police Department arrested Nicole Walker of the Bronx for operating a motor vehicle with a stolen license plate. Walker was released on her own recognizance and is due back in Rye City Court on Tuesday October 14, 2025 at 9:00am to answer the charges. Rye PD reminds you that booking charges are merely accusations and the defendant(s) are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
