The Rye PD confiscated a Ruger Max 9mm pistol from a 29 year old driver on Tuesday morning. The driver was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and unlicenced operation of a vehicle.
At 10:55am Tuesday, March 24, 2026, a City of Rye police officer conducted a traffic stop on the Interstate 95 North Ramp off Midland Avenue on a vehicle for an improperly displayed license plate and dark window tint. During the traffic stop, the operator identified himself as 29-year-old Dancarli Pascual of Stamford, Connecticut. An inquiry into Pascual’s driver’s license revealed his privilege to drive in the State of New York was currently suspended.
During the traffic stop Pascual disclosed he had a firearm (Ruger Max 9mm) in the car with a valid Connecticut carry permit. After an investigation, the officer determined Pascual violated New York State Law by crossing state lines with a loaded firearm. Pascual was placed under arrest and transported to Rye Police headquarters for processing. Pascual was processed and released on a charge of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th degree, a class A Misdemeanor and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd Degree, an unclassified Misdemeanor. He is due back in Rye City Court on Tuesday April 7, 2026, at 9:00am. Rye PD reminds you that booking charges are merely accusations and the defendant(s) are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
