The Rye Boys Soccer team clinched their eighth straight victory on Monday, September 28, as they overcame Pelham 4-1. The Garnets rode a strong second half to yet another win and yet another multi-goal win.

“We struggled through parts of the first half, and received a boost from Felix Wismer’s clinical finishing and Silas Kavanagh’s defensive intensity,” head coach Jared Small told MyRye.com. “We started the second half with some personnel changes, a tactical switch, and a rejuvenated spirit, and the result was a really pleasing second half.”

A brilliant passing play broke the ice in the 6th minute, with Wismer finishing the play and Kasen Scarperi assisting. Scarperi became the scorer in the 21st minute to give Rye their second lead of the night at 2-1. Despite leading, Small and his staff felt dissatisfied with the overall performance and execution through 40 minutes.

“Almost everyone who played in the second half excelled, and the coaching staff was particularly excited to see Dylan Samos dictate play from his central midfield position and Carter Hudspeth defend with intelligence and tenacity,” the head coach said after the win. “Both were quick with their decision-making and concise in their interpretation of the game.”

Connor Dehmer and Wismer both added insurance tallies in the second half, although those represented only two of the several golden looks the Rye offense generated. Between the high-intensity defending and excellent finishing ability on the other end, the Garnets found a way to grind out their eighth straight win to open the 2026 season.

The Garnets (8-0) are back in action on Wednesday, September 30, against Somers for a 5:00pm start on the road.
