Rye Varsity Football’s Jagger Fenton and Harrison Varsity Football’s Jason Crupi both won the 2026 Christopher Mello Award on Saturday, October 17, as the two seniors each earned $7,500 in support of their upcoming collegiate education. Both young gentlemen were honored prior to the start of the annual Rye-Harrison football game at Nugent Stadium.

Fenton is in the midst of his third year as a varsity starter and his first as team co-captain. The 2025 New York State champion has committed to Holy Cross to continue his athletic and academic career starting next fall.

Crupi is a two-year captain for the Huskies who earned All-Section honors in 2025. The star running back was also named to the 2026 LoHud Super 11 ahead of his ongoing senior season.

The Christopher Mello Award and scholarship is presented annually to one Rye and one Harrison senior prior to the game between the two rivals. It honors Christopher Mello, a 1994 Rye High School graduate who lost his life on September 11, 2001. The award recognizes seniors who embody Mello’s legacy of leadership, competitiveness, and academic achievement.
