Girls Varsity Soccer Goes Bonkers on Yonkers

Rye Girls Varsity Soccer went bonkers on Yonkers Tuesday, taking the win at home 8 – 1.

From the first whistle, Rye controlled the pace of the game. Rye was able to spread the field out, forcing Yonkers to work hard defensively. Freshman Charlotte Keenan netted the first two goals for the Garnets with assists from Mary Sack and Maddy Walsh.

Maddy Walsh intercepted a Yonkers and broke through for the third goal of the game for Rye. Claire Curran, Samantha Yeh and Isabelle Harvey would each find the back of the net for the Garnets. Meredith Kenny had the goal of the match with a perfectly placed direct kick from 25 yards out.

The season advances to 3 – 1. Watch the replay. The Garnets will travel to Edgemont on Thursday for 4:30pm match.
